Our background
KSDF saw that there was a clear discrepancy in Kwazakhele at Gqebera (Urban) between the rights that people have according to the law and the extent to which they are able to enjoy those rights in practice. This effectively means that a number people’s rights remain unrealized. Gender -Based Violence package applies to all people irrespective of gender, HIV status and disability and as described above, the project is age and gender sensitive considering the specific needs and capacities of families, caregivers, adolescent girls and women, promoting access to SRHR and SGBV services to adolescent boys and young men, and promoting gender equality in relation to SRHR and prevention of GBV. Social and gender norms will also be addressed through the programme to promote the right to live free of violence, coercion and discrimination, including by specifically supporting young women, as well as adolescent girls and boys as advocates for change in their communities. The key human rights concerns that remain to be addressed in this project include poverty, addressing the needs of AGYW living with HIV and disabilities, addressing the needs of adolescent key populations such as sex workers and LGBTQI. Access to health services and treatment.

About us
KSDF will work with the relevant government partners and stakeholders to address issues that may arise as well as specific needs of them. In terms of human rights concern, the right to privacy and safety of the vulnerable groups that will form part of the programme will be monitored. The safety mappings to identify hotspots of violence in the community will be a tool that will be used to reduce risks and vulnerabilities. The Kwazakhele communities are faced with a number of people that are impoverished, marginalized and vulnerable as the result of high unemployment rate, substance abuse, high crime rate, high teenage pregnancy as well as other related social ills
